Job Position: Zamboni Driver / Maintenance

tarting hourly wage: $13.00 / hourly (this was updated as of 03/24/2021)

Hours of Operation: Must have the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the ice-resurfacer and ice-edger.
  • Drive Zamboni during hockey games maintaining the ice.

(Please be aware that these examples do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift or push up to 150 pound hockey goal frames. Operator will be exposed to cold, wet, and icy conditions.
    • Ability to perform general maintenance of arena. General maintenance includes restrooms, locker rooms, interior and exterior of arena.
    • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
    • Successful completion of probationary period

 POSITION:  PART TIME SEASONAL LABORER,  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS


COMPENSATION:
  $15.00/ HR at 29.5 HRS/WEEK 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Work will be primary preformed outside in all weather conditions. Position will be expected to perform all work as assigned. Duties will include but not be limited to: upkeep and maintenance of City parks, streets, and City facilities. Drive pick-up trucks, dump trucks, plow/salt trucks, vans, forklifts, front-end loaders, back hoes, small equipment and tools. Also, Completing work records and time sheets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Valid Driver’s license,

-Able to pass physical, drug and background screenings
-Reliable attendance.

SALARY: Starting: Base $16.84 -$17.20, plus any additional Certs
BENEFITS: Medical, Optical, and Dental
UNION: Teamsters (Optional)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent
  • CDL license with B Endorsement (air brake) and Tanker Endorsement (within 6 Months)
  • Able to pass physical, background and drug screenings
  • Maintain reliable attendance
  • Able to perform manual labor and lift 75+ lbs
  • Able to respond to after hour call-ins/emergencies (24/7)
  • Able to work professionally with co-workers and the public, even in stressful situations
  • Be willing to obtain S-4 Certification

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Work will be performed outside in all-weather conditions, including extreme conditions. Work will be mainly in the Water/Sewer Division, but will also be expected to assist in all City work; including emergencies, grass cutting, plowing, etc.
  • Duties will include but not be limited to:
    • Driving/Operating Vactor trucks, dump trucks, plow/salt trucks, pick-up trucks, vans, forklifts, front-end loaders, back hoes, small equipment and tools
    • Meter reading and repair, water/sewer line repair, service calls, hydrant repair and concrete repair
    • Performing general equipment maintenance
    • Completing required paperwork

About the Water Department:
The City of Hazel Park’s Water/Sewer Department is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, and willing to learn employee to fill the open position.
Hazel Park’s Water/Sewer Department is responsible for maintaining the city’s water/sewer infrastructure that combined is approximately over 180 miles of pipes, 650 system valves, 7500 water services, 500 fire hydrants, and 2000 street drains are in our 2-mile squared city.   The department also performs required water sampling and reporting to government agencies, assisting businesses and residents with water/sewer issues, maintain a large vehicle fleet, and assist other city departments and developers as needed.

o          Driving/Operating Commercial Mowers, Leaf Vactor trucks, Street Sweepers, Lift Trucks, Chipper Trucks, dump trucks, plow/salt trucks, pick-up trucks, vans, forklifts, front-end loaders, back hoes, small equipment; Weed Whips, chainsaws and tools

o          Preforming park, building, tree and street maintenance as assigned

o          Performing general equipment maintenance

o          Completing work records and time sheets
