Reminder on Fireworks

With the increase in reports of fireworks being set off in Hazel Park, please be advised that a violation of the ordinance may result in a $1,000 fine.

Here is the City ordinance that mirrors State law:

8.09.040 - Ignition, discharge and use of consumer fireworks.
A person shall not ignite, discharge, or use any consumer fireworks, except on the following days:
A.December 31 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. on January 1.
B.The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Memorial Day from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days
C.Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m
D.June 29 to July 4 from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days.
E.July 5, if that date is a Friday or Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.
F.The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Labor Day, the first Monday in September, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on each of these days.
