CNU Event

CNU stands for The Congress for the New Urbanism. They are an "international nonprofit organization working to build vibrant communities where people have diverse choices for how they live, work, and get around. We believe that well-designed cities and neighborhoods are crucial for our health, economy, and environment. New Urbanism is about creating sustainable, human-scaled places where people can live healthy and happy lives.
The walk able, vibrant, beautiful places that New Urbanites build work better for businesses, local governments, and their residents. CNU's members are architects, urban designers, engineers, planners, developers, historic preservationists, bankers, small businesspeople, health professionals, government officials, and everyday citizens who care about our communities".

The City of Hazel Park is one of four communities in southeast Michigan selected for a Congress Legacy Project organized by the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU).

Hazel Park was chosen as a candidate community because of its strong leadership, its ability to turn the plans generated into real built progress on the ground, and its demonstrated need for expert assistance on walk able development and downtown improvements.

The results from our 3 day workshop that was held this week (as well as Pontiac & Detroit’s) will be presented at the 24th annual conference to be held in Downtown Detroit this June 8-11, 2016
