The Planning Department staff responsibilities include speaking with prospective business owners about what types of businesses are permitted within the city and where they are permitted, reviewing site plan applications for new developments, administering grants and loans that aid development within our city, and assisting residents in improving and maintaining their homes, property, and personal well-being.

The Planning Department will speak with business owners when they have an interest in creating additional floor space to a building, adding an additional use to the property, adding or decreasing parking, or adding an accessory building structure. The above process will require site plan approval by the Planning Commission. The site plan review applications may be downlaoded, or picked up at the Planning Department. The Planning Department also oversees rezoning and special use requests. These applications may be downloaded, or picked up at the Planning Department.

The Planning Department also oversees the administration of Community Development Block Grant funds. These funds currently have been allocated to assist residents with home repairs and specific property code violation repairs. The Planning Department can also refer residents to other available grant and loan monies(LINK) available to assist with home repairs or subsidized housing needs.
