All recycling will be picked up on Mondays. 

  • Please have all items out by 7:00am to ensure Pick Up.
  • Set Clean, acceptable recyclables in cart.
  • Large metal items should be placed near bin.
  • Residents can still set out small bins but can not weigh more than 60 pounds per bin.

Recycle Carts

Replacement 65- Gal = $30.00
95-Gal Swap  = $20.00 Up-Charge 
A 95 Gallon can is recommended for larger amounts of recycling opposed to 2 or more 65 Gallon carts.
Call DPW to make arrangements: 248-542-0340 – MON-THURS – 7am to 3pm

Businesses can also start recycling programs! Contact SOCRRA @248-288-5150 to start today!



 -Acceptable Curbside Items -

  • All papers - Newspapers, magazines, mail, paperback books, and paperboard boxes, phone books, shredded paper in a clear plastic bag
  • Empty food and beverage boxes, milk cartons, paper cups, drink and juice boxes
  • All plastic containers, empty and rinsed out.
  • Empty glass bottles and jars
  • Empty metal cans
  • Cardboard- Must be broken down and flattened to fit into cart.
  • Large Metal items - grills, bikes, lawn mowers, washers, dryers, file cabinets, shelving, water heaters. Please place next to recycling Cart. Please report any scavenging to the Police Department.

This service is available to ANY resident or business regardless of address

        Electronic items require special handling and should not be disposed of in regular trash.         Electronics can be brought to SOCRRA for recycling and safe disposal free of charge.         See below for examples of electronic items.

Presciption Drugs Recycling-

Starting November 3, 2016, Expired Prescriptions can be dropped off at the Police Department Lobby for proper disposal. No sharps please! The Police Department is located within the City Hall Building at 111 E Nine Mile Road.
