Under Ordinance 07-20, the City of Hazel Park has provided for the licensing of short-term rental properties such as Airbnb, VRBO, HomeAway, etc. Licenses must be applied for by mail or in-person through the City Clerk's Office (111 E. Nine Mile Rd., Hazel Park, MI 48030). Fees include a nonrefundable $500 application fee and, if the license is approved, an annual $625 licensing fee. Inspections must be scheduled with the Building Dept. at the time of application and every six months thereafter in order to maintain licensure.

Is issued, a Short-term Rental License is valid until December 31st of the issuing year. No person may hold more than one (1) license at a time, and no more than one (1) license may be issued in any city block. Up to 30 licenses may be issued at a time. Licenses are non-transferable and non-assignable.
