SUMMER TAX SHIFT FOR JULY 2005 thru July 2007
The legislature has approved a tax shift of the County tax
rate, normally collected in December, to have one-third collected
on the July 2005 summer tax bill. The remaining two-thirds will
be collected on the winter 2005 tax bill. This shift will continue
with two-thirds to be collected on the July 2006 summer tax
bill, leaving one-third in December of 2006, with the final
shift being 100% of the County operating taxes on the July bill
in 2007. The purpose of this shift is to allow the counties
in the State of Michigan to collect their levies early to invest
the funds to make up for the fact that they will no longer be
receiving Revenue Sharing from the State. The shift will allow
cities, townships and villages to remain funded with revenue
sharing. Without this shift municipalities would have lost their
State Share Revenue monies. Post marks are not accepted.
Please note Water Bills & Taxes can no longer be paid at
National City Bank. Payments must be brought to the Treasury
Office at city hall.
